The client can’t replace the Editor.

The client can replace everything now. AI. Prompts. Tools. Models. Chats. God himself if they want to. But there’s still one thing they can’t replace, Benjamin. They can’t replace Editing.

Let’s start with the obvious.

It has never been easier, faster, or cheaper to create content that used to be impossible for 99% of humanity. Things that once took days, weeks, or even months to produce, often without satisfying results.

It required layout artists, illustrators, designers, animators and entire teams across different disciplines just to finish a single piece of content, video or animation.

For the first time in human history, anyone with a smartphone, a computer and internet access can generate content.

The possibilities today are absurd.

Brands now have the power to experiment and test at a scale that was unimaginable before. And yes, the reality is that the world of designers and animators is in danger. It’s not a small thing. Thousands of people around the world are watching, in real time, how someone with no experience or creative criteria can suddenly produce things that look “better.”

AI evolved exponentially in less than two years, and what’s possible today would have sounded insane not long ago.

And this is where the phrase applies:

Editors have become gold.

Truthfully, they always were, because editing has always been the thing that separates good from unforgettable. But now, more than ever.

Beyond understanding the objective, which already matters a lot, when you create a video, no matter how short it is, you’re making a film. There’s a narrative. A logic. A rhythm. And when that’s missing, people notice immediately. They may not know exactly why, but they feel something is off.

That was always true.

But now there’s another problem on top of it all: the amount of content being created is completely out of control. And without someone capable of turning those soulless prompts into an actual film, an actual piece of content with meaning, it will remain just another generic AI video. And the audience will know.

People consume thousands of pieces of content every day. The eye learns fast.

We’re becoming more aware of the details. Six-fingered hands. Painfully obvious AI phrases. “This isn’t this, it’s this.” The same editing styles. The same copy structures. The same music. The same camera movements. The same graphics. Everything is starting to look the same.

AI doesn’t differentiate.

It gives everyone the same content, and what’s truly concerning is that AI is now feeding itself with the same empty content it generates. It’s an infinite loop where everything slowly becomes repetitive, generic and soulless. And as more time passes, it will keep training itself on more generic AI-made content.

That’s why editors have become so important.

You don’t even need editors to love your brand anymore.

You need them so people don’t hate it.

You need them so people remember it.

Almost every billboard, ad, graphic or campaign today is filled with fake AI people. Everything starts to lose meaning. Nothing feels real anymore.

And that’s exactly why editors matter so much now.

Because they are the ones who can still bring back one of the most important human qualities of all:

Soul.

With a sound. A sentence. A movement. A subtle wink to the audience that makes someone smile slightly and think:

“Damn. That was clever.”

And that’s when everything you made becomes worth it.

Because that person connected with your work in a personal way. They may never buy from you. Maybe not today, maybe never. But they’ll remember how it made them feel.

And if something reminds them of that moment later, they’ll remember you.

Because otherwise, there’s nothing left to remember.
